The Northumberland Line development will deliver six new stations across the South East of Northumberland.
The service is rumoured to begin in August 2024 with Bedlington being one of the destinations that will benefit from this major transport link upgrade. With rail operator Northern Trains planning to run a service from Newcastle Central Station to Ashington, stopping at Manors, Northumberland Park, Seaton Delaval, Newsham, Blyth Bebside and Bedlington along the way. And it is expected the journey will take roughly 36 minutes.
The current plans are to run two trains an hour from Monday to Saturday, between 6am to 7.30pm, with one train an hour after 7.30pm and on Sundays. This is fantastic news for the area and also any prospective buyers who perhaps work in Newcastle’s city centre but would prefer to live away from the hustle and bustle.
Aisling Ramshaw, sales director at Miller Homes has said: “The opportunities brought by the Northumberland line will make the area more appealing to everyone from families to businesses and I have no doubt it will bring much welcomed renewed interest in the area.
“While south east Northumberland is undoubtedly a desirable option for buyers thanks to its coastal position, getting in and out of Newcastle at peak times can be challenging. But this new line changes that.
